Roots of Wing Chun China Tour
Wing Chun Kung Fu in Greensborough Sifu Garry and Sifu Linda from the Shaolin Jee Shin Wing Chun Association have been organizing Roots of Wing Chun China Tours since 2006 to research Wing Chun in China.
Greensborough Martial Arts Sifu Garry and Sifu Linda have been researching the “roots of wing chun” to establish time lines and authenticity regarding Wing Chun Kung Fu in China and follow its origins from the Northern Shaolin Temple down to the Red Boat Opera Troupe, in southern China.
There are 7 main wing chun families in China that stem from the legendary Red Boats Opera Troupe.
From 2006 to 2015, the Jee Shin Wing Chun group have travelled to China on 6 occasions, visiting historical places around southern China, including Wing Chun schools in Guangzhou, Gulao Village, Shaping, Shunde, Foshan, and Hong Kong. The Group have recently travelled to the Northern and Southern Shaolin Temples, where Wing Chun originated from. Sifu Garry and Sifu Linda have also visited wing chun schools outside of China, mainly in Singapore and Taiwan.
In November 2018, the shaolin jee shin wing chun kung fu association will be making their 7th “Roots of Wing Chun” trip to China.
The 2018 trip will land us in Guangzhou first, then make our way around Guangdong Province to Shaping and Gulao Village, Foshan, Shunde, visit the Pan Yu District for the first time, and finish our trip in Hong Kong, where Wing Chun Kung Fu spread to the Western World, after the Legendary Bruce Lee started teaching Lee Jan Fun Wing Chun in the USA.
Guangdong Province in Southern China is the birth place of Wing Chun Kung Fu since its inception around the mid 1800’s, eventually coming to Hong Kong after the Communist Revolution in 1949.
