Shaolin Jee Shin China Tour 2012
October 05, 2012 Sifu Linda's

5th Roots of Wing Chun China Trip

In Anticipation of

Only 7 weeks to go now until Shaolin Jee Shin Wing Chun embark on their 5th tour to China.

My excitement is building by the day.

I am working on keeping my chi balanced, so as not to get too excited too soon.

Every tour has been exciting.

But this China Tour will be completely different.

Sifu Garry and Sifu Linda have never been to the North before.

This means many new and exotic sights and sounds to behold.

Walking through the streets of Beijing is going to be amazing.

The capital city of China is over 3000 years old, its history is incredible.

Today it is modern and old, with new  ideas.

It’s still growing and changing and has a population of 20 million people.

Something so complex it is hard to grasp.

On Jee Shin Wing Chun‘s next agenda is the Forbidden City.

The Forbidden City was the Imperial Palace from the Ming Dynasty to  the end of the Qing Dynasty.

It is located in the middle of Beijing, only minutes from our motel.

For almost 500 years, it served as the home of emperors.

It was also the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government.

It will be a walk back through history.

It always blows my mind when I think about being there.

I am looking forward to doing chi sao on The Great Wall.

I have seen so much footage of this amazing location.

To think I will be standing on it in 7 weeks, Wow.

Then onto the Shaolin Temple.

The epitome of home of Kung Fu. Every martial artists Mecca.

The spiritual journey one has to make, when the time is right.

I have felt that its spirit has been compromised by its commercialization.

I have come to terms with that and I am now ready to visit my spiritual Kung Fu Home.

My vision is to do Sil Lim Tao on the Temple steps.

Surely Ng Mui walked upon these same steps many years ago.

It will be an experience to walk among the ancient pagodas.

To walk where many ancient masters once have walked and breath the history in.

I am in great anticipation of.

Sifu Garry and Sifu Linda have been invited to Sifu Mei Gei Wong’s anniversary wake.

Many Kung Fu Sifu‘s and students from around the world attend this celebration.

It will be a unique experience that will be one of the  highlights of the trip.

Once reaching Foshan, we will visit the Bruce Lee Museum.

It has the biggest statue of Bruce Lee in the world standing 18.8 meters tall.

He is still a Chinese Legend.

The last time we were there was a Bruce Lee Festival.

In front of the Paradise everyone was celebrating with a Thousand Man Meal.

Being from Australia we were asked to join everyone for lunch in memory of Bruce Lee.

What an experience.

While we are in Foshan we will visit with Lun Kai the first student of Yip Man.

This will be our 2nd visit with him and his school.

Always a privilege to spend time with these old masters of Wing Chun.

We will head off to Kulo from Foshan. There we will meet with Sifu Lou from Sha Pin.

We cannot visit Grand Master Fung Chun this year due to his passing in September.

Hopefully we will be able to visit Leung Jans house while we are there.

Kowloon, Hong Kong is our last destination.

This year we visit with Yip Ching, Yip Man’s son.

This will be a real honor.

I am looking forward to this meeting with great anticipation.

Our final school will be Sifu Donald Mak’s school.

Sifu Mak has  been instrumental with our interactions in China.

Then………………. it will be all over……………………. until the next adventure.

Stay tuned for some blogs on the tour.
